New Exciting News

Well I think I am going to faint! Katie is engaged! We are so excited. His name is Drew Behunin. He is a wonderful boy and we already love him. Drew went with us to San Diego. He passed the test of Mackay and Garrett. The three of them got to share a hotel room together. They both approve and like him. Last night Drew called and asked Jim's persmission and blessing to marry Katie. Drew was nervous on the phone and Jim had a little chuckle to himself. I was sitting next to Jim and I had a tear in my eye. Our Katie is getting married. Boy does it go fast. All of you just wait. Here is how Drew asked Katie. He brought her roses and took her to the nicest restaurant around. Katie was in a dress and Drew a suit. I think Katie knew what was coming. She got nervous and talked and talked and talked. Drew couldn't get a word in. Finally she stopped talking and Drew got down on one knee in the middle of the restuarant and said some wonderful things asking her to marry him! Katie said yes and gave him a kiss. Everyone was watching them. Funny huh! She got a solitaire ring and she is thrilled with the ring. Our girl is getting married. scary! So we do not know what day yet. They are thinking the very last week-end in June or the middle of July. I am not sure which. I will let you know when I find out. I hope all of you will be around. We will keep you posted on all of the arrangements.

Our baby now has the Priesthood

Today was a big day at the Burgon home. Our baby just got the Priesthood. Yes Mackay is now a deacon. It is a wonderful day. After church we all met in the Bishop's office-Grandpa, Grandma, Nanny and Papa were with us too. Jim gave a wonderful blessing. Mackay looked so grownup. Right after he got the Priesthood he went out collecting fast offerings with the Deacons. It is really fun to see all of our kids grow up. Mackay is following in the footsteps of his brothers. He has great examples to follow. We are so proud of Mackay. He stood up in Sacrament Meeting and gave the 13th Article of Faith. He looked so grown-up and he didn't even mess up. He was so scared then he was proud of himself. We cannot believe that our baby is a Deacon and now he holds the Priesthood.Katie flew out this morning. She didn't get to be here for Mackay's big day. We were scared that the weather would not let her fly out. Everything cooperated and the plane got out before that snow storm. We are glad she got home safely. After her being home for a couple of weeks we will miss her. She sure adds some excitement to our house.Things have started calming down at our house and I hate it. I always like everyone here and all the fun happening. I hate the slow cold days of January. I guess we will just have to plan some fun things to do. Now that there are just four of us home we seem small but we still have fun. I love you all have a great week

We talked to our missionaries We got to talk to Gavin and Dallin on Christmas Day! It was so fun to hear their voices and know that they are doing great.Dallin called us first at about 11am. He was at some member's house with alot of other people from the ward. Every once in a while we would hear alot of commotion. He laughed and talked with all of us. We were at the office and we used the conference phone. We could all hear everything. Dallin talked about his new companion and how he liked him. He is thrilled to be back in Leeds. That is where all of the work is strong. He has some strong investigators and is helping some less active members. Dallin went on to tell us that he is looking for someplace else to live. The lady they are living with is going on a mission so they need to find another flat. I think he will be glad about moving because he and his companion share one tiny room. Dallin sounded about the same although he did use some words that we did not understand. We think that he will not pick up an accent because he doesn't hear well enough for that. He sounded so happy and grounded in the Gospel. We are very lucky to have him as our son.Gavin called us at about 3pm. So off we marched back to the office to talk to Gavin. He definately had an accent. It was so fun to listen to him speak. Gavin loves Tasmania. His flat is right by the water. He loves how beautiful it is there and how the pace of life is slower. When he called us it was the day after Christmas in Australia--boxing day. He said that they had a great Christmas day at his stake president's house. They had great food and played some games. He seemed like he had a great holiday. His only concern was that he could teach the people that much during the holidays because they are very busy. He has some investigators including a young 10 year old boy. After we had talked to Gavin for about an hour his accent starting going away. It was so wierd. We laughed and talked to him also. After all of the talking and laughing it was sad that we had to hang up. I felt a little sad for the rest of the day. I can't wait for Mother's Day when we can talk to them again. All of you will have this experience and then you will understand the mixed emotions.
